We're having a GIRL!!!

Michael and I are so excited that we are going to be the parents of a sweet little girl! Last Friday, I went for my second trimester ultrasound. For almost 20 weeks, we waited anxiously to find out the gender of our baby. The ultrasound went well and my doctor let me know that not only was the baby a SHE, but that she is also developing perfectly. The doctor said that her major organs look great, and that her limbs are measuring exactly where they should for her gestational age. My due date is still right on target for September 29, 2010. I give praise and glory to God for the safe development of our little one!
Now Michael and I begin the long process of choosing her name. Before we were informed of her gender, we had decided on two names for the baby. Connor Louis for a boy and Whitney Grace for a girl. Now, we are narrowing down several names for her (including Whitney Grace) and hopefully we will have her name soon!

After my ultrasound, I did what I do best...SHOP!! I am including a picture of her first little girl outfit that my cousin Angie surprised me with and I am also including a picture of the first outfit that I bought to surprise her daddy with. After all, our little girl is making her arrival during Alabama football season. She will definitely need an outfit to show her support for her favorite football team! :)

First little girl outfit given by Angie!

Roll Tide Alabama! She is ready to cheer on her favorite team! :)

Month 5 is going well! I can't wait for the next four months and then finally the arrival of our little girl! We can't wait to meet her!

Baby Banks at 9 weeks

I truly believe that one of God's greatest works is the creation of life. While I have experienced a personal walk with God for over 20 years, pregnancy has drawn me even closer to the Lord. I am constantly amazed by pregnancy and the daily changes that will make up our little bundle of joy! Every day I read the new developments that are happening to our little one and I am amazed by the intricate details that God has for the creation of life. I am so glad that God has a plan for our baby. (and for me and Michael!) I know he is watching over and protecting our little one even now! (and I like to believe that our little one has a special guardian angel too..by the name of Louis Dickie!) :)

Michael and I had another doctor's appointment this past Thursday. Due to the fact that I have diabetes, my pregnancy is being followed closely by a maternal/fetal specialist. Therefore, we visit our doctor every two weeks for check-ups. Reports are wonderful though. We have been informed that my blood sugars are great and that my diabetes poses no additional risk to the baby. We had another ultrasound and we received the news that the baby looks perfect. We were also able to hear the heartbeat. (What a sweet sweet sound!) While I don't believe in old wives' tales, I did ask the technician how fast his/her heartbeat was and she said 186 BPM! If you believe in old wives' tales then you know the tale states a heart rate over 150 BPM means you are having a girl! We will just have to wait and see! (We should find out gender around late April or early May!)

On a funny note..
When I found out that I was pregnant, my cousin, Angie, recommended a book to me called "The Pregnancy Journal". The book is designed to inform you of changes in your baby's development each day. Basically, before you start reading, you open the book to the back and write your due date and write each date through the book (back to front). As you begin reading the book each day, you start with the day you conceived and work towards your due date! Very informative book! The other neat thing is that it will tell you the estimated conception date of your little one! So, I bought this book and wrote my due date in the back. When I had dated the entire book and reached day 1 (Conception Day) it was JANUARY 7, 2010!!! ROLL TIDE ALABAMA!!! Our child is already an Alabama baby!! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!! :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY

On December 14, 2007, my cousin Angie (Angela as everyone knows her) was blessed with a beautiful baby girl! From the moment she told me that she was pregnant, I knew that her little baby was going to be a special part of my life. I can still remember rushing to the hospital on the day Lauren was born and holding her in my arms. Two years later, this sweet little girl has completely stolen my heart (and Michael's) and captivated our lives. We love every moment that we share with her,and we are so thankful that the Lord has blessed Angie with a sweet and loveable daughter! HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! WE LOVE YOU!

My First Post

It seems that lately I am constantly reminded of a song that I learned many years ago in bible school. Although that was 20+ years ago, the moral of the story still applies to my life and provides great advice on how to address situations that I encounter.
The wise man built his house upon the rock
The wise man built his house
upon the rock
The wise man built his house upon the rock
And the rain
came tumbling down

Oh, the rain came down
And the floods came up
The rain came down
And the floods came up
The rain came down
And
the floods came up
And the wise man's house stood firm.

The foolish
man built his house upon the sand
The foolish man built his house upon the
sand
The foolish man built his house upon the sand
And the rain came
tumbling down

Oh, the rain came down
And the floods came up
The
rain came down
And the floods came up
The rain came down
And the
floods came up
And the foolish man's house went "splat!"

I love that a children's song has so much meaning. :) I know that as long as I build my life on the rock foundation of Jesus Christ, he will direct my paths.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your path." -Proverbs 3:5-6
